One of the main reasons Tara and I bought our house<\/a> was because of the size of the front and backyards. We knew we would have enough space to play with our kids, but also be able to grow a garden. We have grown smaller plants in the past, but have never had this much space. We grew a garden!<\/p>\n\n\n

We planted a Hybrid Tree. Plums, Apricots, Peaches and Nectarines<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We put our tomatoes in containers<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"Zucchini\"
Zucchini starting to grow. This was a Mexican Gray variety <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Blueberries starting to turn blue<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our neighbor’s apricot tree hung over in to our yard. Rhett loved them!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He would eat about 3-5 a day.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We had an albino zucchini! It was a black beauty variety, but put out white fruit. Still tasty<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We got quite a few. Almost 2 a week from both plants<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We grew some small Radishes, even though we don’t really like them<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"Strawberries\"
A strawberry patch woke up from the previous year. A nice surprise!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The strawberries came up on their own from the previous owners, but we added the white one. The white Strawberry is called a Hula Berry, which tastes like a pineapple. Super delicious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Tomatoes\"
We grew 4 different types of tomatoes<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We grew big beef, celebrity, sun gold cherry and martian giant. Most of our tomatoes were small, but we had a couple decent sized ones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They grew to about 6 ft tall<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

During late summer\/early fall, I would pick about a dozen everyday<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Celebrity Tomatoes. They grew about this size the entire summer. We probably ended up with around 50 total<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, our pumpkin plant was attacked by squash bugs and so we only got two pumpkins from this plant. \ud83d\ude41 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We grew Jalapenos and Coolapenos (no spice). Both very good in salsa<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cantaloupes are still growing as I write this. I think they are almost ripe. We have about 5 right now that are about the size of a softball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Cucumber\"

We probably ended up with about 30 cucumbers. They were a nice snack that I would pick in the morning and eat at work for lunch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During peak season a haul like this was common every other day. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Everything got bigger. Still growing today! Also, guest appearance from Brian, the owl.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We grew a garden! We had a lot of fun this year and hope to get a little bit more before the weather cools down. I plan on doing an even bigger garden next year and with my experience this year, everything should grow a lot smoother. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
